East Croydon Platform

East Croydon Platform

East Croydon Platform 1 & 2 Island Platform for NR IP South East Region (BAM Nuttall)

The scheme requirement was to overcome PTI issues on both platforms due to a combination of platform curvature, track geometry and rolling stock. The existing platform surface was a combination of brick paving and tarmac. Certain areas of platform were overlaid full width with Mountbridge System TM using frp panels.

The London end was overlaid with a combination of frp coper and tactile frp panels with the intermediate areas re-surfaced with tarmac and new ACO drainage.

The scheme was designed and installed by using Mountbridge Adjustable Platform System TM, especially designed to overcome PTI issues.

Extensive works were undertaken to overcome interfaces with existing stairs, ramps, lift shafts and platform buildings as the platform height was increased to 150mm. Certain external areas of the platform were installed with underfloor heating to minimise risk of frost/slippery surfaces in winter.

Tulse Hill Station

Tulse Hill Station for Network Rail,
South East Region

This was a prototype installation of Hammond Mountbridge Adjustable frp Platform System TM. (Patent no 2515519) The work arose from an incident where a passenger slipped between the platform edge and train whilst the train was in the station.

The existing platform was part traditional build, with a suspended timber platform construction under the canopy areas. To the canopy area the timber deck and supporting timbers were removed and replaced with a frp adjustable deck laid on frp beams.

The remainder of the platform was constructed using Mountbridge Adjustable Platform Overlay System TM (Patent no: 2515519) set on concrete ground beams. These areas required parts of the platform to be raised 200mm and fully supported oversail of 180mm to achieve NR standard gauge.
