Ryde Pierhead (IOW Platform Refurb Scheme) for OSL Global (South Western Railway)

Pierhead station is approximately 120 m long and varies in width. The entire structure is a steel structure set over the sea, mainly encased in concrete. Adjacent sectiopns of the disused pier were in poor condition.

The scheme was to raise the platform gauge by 400mm and close off the rear section of the platform with a handrail system to prevent passengers accessing a disused section of the platform.

Hammond ‘Mountbridge’ platform systemTM was installed. The works were completed in four shifts for the main platform works. Additional access ramps with dda handrails were installed to the pierhead end.
